Ain't that America... little purple houses for me and you!

team: N&M
team member: Nancy
location: E. Cliff Dr. Santa Cruz, CA

Cruising through Santa Cruz on our way to Seacliff Beach in Aptos we were BOLO for scavenger hunt items... score one for team M&N with this awesomely purple house!  Once again there was a cop car involved... no ticket for us, but a highway patrol had someone pulled over almost in front of this beauty!  We had to circle around, no good parking (beach town y'know) so we pulled up right in front, jumped out, snapped our photo and got the heck out of there!

Big Dipper!

team:  N&M
team member: Mark
location: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

We were headed over the hill for a Young family barbecue at Seacliff beach and thought it was high time we visited the Beach Boardwalk again!  When we arrived it was quite over-cast - but can't you just hear the screams from the Big Dipper and smell the salty air?

Wonderful Water Tower

Water tower in Otis Orchards, WA (on the way to Coeur d'Alene). Posted by the Geezer Team, with the Geezer himself standing in the tall clover.

There's half a dozen of these towers out there on the prairie. It is not leaning. That illusion was added by Marcia, the chief photographer.

It was too hot to climb to the top to get a picture.

Ice Cream Truck

Dave
John D. Morgan park in Campbell CA

The guy didn't have much variety, even though it looks like he does. Is this even a truck????
After we left we realized it was a van. Oh, well close enough.

Ding Dong Ding Dong

Team Geezers - Team Members: Melissa & Barb
Taken in Post Falls, Idaho. We were with Mark & Nancy - their Church/Bell picture location is one block west of this one on the same street. Mark had the eagle eyes on this one! Thanks!

Footbridge from a Footbridge

Team Geezers - Team Members: Nick & Barb
Taken at River Front Park from another footbridge - both bridges are going over a "concept" water feature designed for the 1974 worlds fair. Not quite sure what the concept was tho...

Potty Break

Team: Dana & Chris B.
Team member: Chris
Location: Smith Ferry Park, Reedley, Ca
I dont think the pics really do it justice, but this porta potty is in a park thats set on an incline with the river below it. There are no tables or anything remotely close to it, you gotta hike. Its the only one in the park, right on the road, leaned up against a tree thats planted on a cliff. Yep, pretty odd if you ask me.
When I spotted this beauty there were two little girls trying to push it over, kinda like Chris is doing in the first pic.

Ice Cream Truck

Team Geezers - Team Member: Nick
Spokane, WA - South Hill near Manito Park.
Nick buys Mom an Ice Cream - My reward I guess for having good ears and hearing the Ice Cream Truck music. I picked a fudgecicle.

more flags, 4 flags, more fun!

team: N&M
team member in photo: Nancy
Location:  "Main Street" hiway 97
Moro, Oregon

On our long drive home from Spokane we drive through Moro - oh, look a couple of flags, too bad there aren't more.  Oh there are more!!  The three by Nancy and there are two more by the truck on the right side of the picture.  The flags were all over this street, a state trooper had just pulled over a big rig across the street from us - he watched us take our photo!

Porta-Potty

Team Member: Derrek
Location: Milpitas, California

There it is, an obscure place for a porta-potty, under the light rail bridge that is over the expressway, and there is no construction around it.

American Flags

Location: San Jose, California

If you live in San Jose and you drive down Moorepark towards Valley Fair Mall you probably have seen this patriotic house.

Water Tower

Team Member: Erin (left) and Derrek (right)
Location: Santa Clara, California

We were driving down Lafayette and I saw a water tower, so we pulled down the street and the first one we saw is the one Derrek is pointing to. Then we were driving off, of course I took a wrong turn and went up a hill, coincidentally on that hill you could see TWO water towers, so we had to stop again.

Unmarked Water Tower

Team: Eddie, Leisa, Kaylyn
Shown: E&K
Photographer:L

Location: Agnews "Developmental Systems" ---We all know what that means......it was kinda creepy looking around the insane asylum.....but really cool too. It's huge back there. Tons of acres plus a water tower sans writing :)

Here is ours anyway.

Fruit or vegetable stand with an unusual item.

Team member: Cathy

"Chinese bitter melon"

Campbell Farmer's Market 7-11-10

We were going to post some of the hunt pictures as inspiration. It is obvious you guys do not need any.

Momordica charantia is a tropical and subtropical vine of the family Cucurbitaceae, widely grown for edible fruit, which is among the most bitter of all fruits. Names for the plant and its fruit include bitter melon, bitter gourd (translated from Chinese: 苦瓜; pinyin: kǔguā), goya from Japanese or Karela/Karella, ampalayá from Tagalog, and cerasee[1] (Caribbean and South America; also spelled cerasse).

The original home of the species is not known, other than that it is a native of the tropics. It is widely grown in India and other parts of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, China, Africa, and the Caribbean.

An Unusual Fruit at a Fruit Stand

Team Member: Erin
Location: Campbell, California

We were at the Farmers Market and our unusual item is a lychee. They were on display with avocados, mango, and mini bananas. I have no idea what a lychee is.

Tandem Bike

Team Member: Derrek
Location: Campbell, California

Derrek and I were driving home from the Campbell Farmers Market and we saw these guys riding along. We stopped them and they said some other people just asked them to take a picture for a scavenger hunt. My Mom and Dad took a picture with them too!! i told mom that is not fair, they are judges not competing. So here is our tandem bike!
